31 / 111 page ![]() Electrical characteristics i.MX 8M Plus Applications Processor Datasheet for Consumer Products, Rev. 0, 03/2021 NXP Semiconductors 31 3.1.6.2 On-chip OSC24M This block implements an amplifier that when combined with a suitable 24 MHz external quartz crystal and external load capacitors implements an oscillator. The oscillator is powered from VDD_24M_XTAL_1P8. 3.1.7 Estimated power supply maximum currents Power consumption is highly dependent on the application. The table below represents the estimated maximum current on the power supply rails and should be used as a guideline for power supply selection. The data below is based on a combination of design simulation and characterization data based on typical datasheet voltages. Actual power consumption for typical use cases are lower than values presented on the table below. Table 18. 24M rystal specifications Parameter Description Min Typ Max Unit Frequency — 24 — MHz Cload1 1 CL is the load capacitance of the crystal that is recommended by the crystal vendors to obtain target clock frequency. CL is given by the following formula: CL = {CL1 x CL2 / (CL1 + CL2)} + PCB strays —12 — pF Drive level2 2 Actual working drive level is depend on real design. Please contact crystal vendor for selecting drive level of crystal. —— 100 µW ESR3 3 ESR is the equivalent series resistance of the crystal. —60 — — Rf (feedback resistor)4 4 Rf is the feedback resistor to bias the amplifier. A larger value of Rf is preferred at lower frequencies. 500 — — K Rs (series resistor)5 5 Rs is the series resistor to limit amplifier gain and reduce power dissipation in the crystal. 0— 500 K Table 19.
