For technical details about the programmable registers related to the CAN, refer to the CAN registers in the following companion document: ● RM0321: SPEAr320S address map and registers 15.1 Overview SPEAr320S provides two independent CAN Controllers that have an AMBA compatible interface and conform to CAN protocol version 2.0 (both part A and B). 15.2 Main features ● Supports CAN protocol version 2.0 part A and B ● Bit rates up to 1 MBit/s ● 32 message objects(136x32 message RAM) ● Each message object has its own identifier mask ● Maskable interrupt (level sensitive, edge sensitive) ● Programmable loop-back mode for self-test operation ● Disabled automatic retransmission mode for time triggered CAN applications ● Interfaces to the AMBA APB bus from ARM 15.3 Functional description Figure 66. CAN controller block diagram The CAN core performs communication according to the CAN protocol version 2.0, part A and B. The bit rate can be programmed to values up to 1MBit/s depending on the used technology.
