TheprovisionofFlashtypeProgramMemoryprovidestheuserwithameansofconvenientandeasy

upgradesandmodificationstotheirprogramsonthesamedevice.Asanadditionalconvenience,

Holtekhasprovidedameansofprogrammingthemicrocontrollerin-circuitusinga4-pininterface.

Thisprovidesmanufacturerswiththepossibilityofmanufacturingtheircircuitboardscompletewith

aprogrammedorun-programmedmicrocontroller,andthenprogrammingorupgradingtheprogram

atalaterstage.Thisenablesproductmanufacturerstoeasilykeeptheirmanufacturedproducts

suppliedwiththelatestprogramreleaseswithoutremovalandre-insertionofthedevice.

TheProgramMemorycanbeprogrammedseriallyin-circuitusingthis4-wireinterface.Data

isdownloadedanduploadedseriallyonasinglepinwithanadditionallinefortheclock.Two

additionallinesarerequiredforthepowersupply.Thetechnicaldetailsregardingthein-circuit

programmingofthedevicearebeyondthescopeofthisdocumentandwillbesuppliedin

supplementaryliterature.

Duringtheprogrammingprocess,takingcontroloftheICPDAandICPCKpinsfordataandclock

programmingpurposes.Theusermusttheretakecaretoensurethatnootheroutputsareconnected

tothesetwopins.

chipdevicealsoprovidesan“On-ChipDebug”functiontodebugtherealMCUdeviceduringthe

developmentprocess.TheEVchipandtherealMCUdevicearealmostfunctionallycompatible

exceptfor“On-ChipDebug”function.UserscanusetheEVchipdevicetoemulatetherealchip

devicebehaviorbyconnectingtheOCDSDAandOCDSCKpinstotheHoltekHT-IDEdevelopment

tools.TheOCDSDApinistheOCDSData/Addressinput/outputpinwhiletheOCDSCKpinis

theOCDSclockinputpin.WhenusersusetheEVchipfordebugging,otherfunctionswhichare

sharedwiththeOCDSDAandOCDSCKpinsinthedevicewillhavenoeffectintheEVchip.
