Operating Mode Description CPU fSYS fSUB fS NORMAL Mode on fH~fH/�� on on SLOW Mode on fSUB on on IDLE0 Mode off off on on/off IDLE1 Mode off on on on SLEEP0 Mode off off off off SLEEP1 Mode off off on on NORMAL Mode Asthenamesuggeststhisisoneofthemainoperatingmodeswherethemicrocontrollerhasallof itsfunctionsoperationalandwherethesystemclockisprovidedbyoneofthehighspeedoscillators. Thismodeoperatesallowingthemicrocontrollertooperatenormallywithaclocksourcewillcome fromoneofthehighspeedoscillators,eithertheHXTorHIRCoscillators.Thehighspeedoscillator willhoweverfirstbedividedbyaratiorangingfrom1to64,theactualratiobeingselectedbythe CKS2~CKS0andHLCLKbitsintheSMODregister.Althoughahighspeedoscillatorisused, runningthemicrocontrolleratadividedclockratioreducestheoperatingcurrent. SLOW Mode Thisisalsoamodewherethemicrocontrolleroperatesnormallyalthoughnowwithaslowerspeed clocksource.Theclocksourceusedwillbefromoneofthelowspeedoscillators,eithertheLXT ortheLIRC.Runningthemicrocontrollerinthismodeallowsittorunwithmuchloweroperating currents.IntheSLOWMode,thefHisoff. SLEEP0 Mode TheSLEEPModeisenteredwhenanHALTinstructionisexecutedandwhentheIDLENbitinthe SMODregisterislow.IntheSLEEP0modetheCPUwillbestopped,andthefSUBandfSclocks willbestoppedtoo,andtheWatchdogTimerfunctionisdisabled.Inthismode,theLVDENismust clearedtozero.IftheLVDENissethigh,itwon’tentertheSLEEP0Mode. SLEEP1 Mode TheSLEEPModeisenteredwhenanHALTinstructionisexecutedandwhentheIDLENbitin theSMODregisterislow.IntheSLEEP1modetheCPUwillbestopped.HoweverthefSUBandfS clockswillcontinuetooperateiftheLVDENis“1”ortheWatchdogTimerfunctionisenabledand ifitsclocksourceischosenviaconfigurationoptiontocomefromthefSUB. IDLE0 Mode TheIDLE0ModeisenteredwhenaHALTinstructionisexecutedandwhentheIDLENbitinthe SMODregisterishighandtheFSYSONbitintheCTRLregisterislow.IntheIDLE0Modethe systemoscillatorwillbeinhibitedfromdrivingtheCPUbutsomeperipheralfunctionswillremain operationalsuchastheWatchdogTimer,TMsandSIM.IntheIDLE0Mode,thesystemoscillator willbestopped.IntheIDLE0ModetheWatchdogTimerclock,fS,willeitherbeonoroffdepending |
