Periodic Type TM Operating Modes

ThePeriodicTypeTMcanoperateinoneoffiveoperatingmodes,CompareMatchOutputMode,

PWMOutputMode,SinglePulseOutputMode,CaptureInputModeorTimer/CounterMode.The

operatingmodeisselectedusingtheTnM1andTnM0bitsinthePTMnC1register.

Compare Match Output Mode

Toselectthismode,bitsTnM1andTnM0inthePTMnC1register,shouldbeallclearedto00

respectively.Inthismodeoncethecounterisenabledandrunningitcanbeclearedbythree

methods.Theseareacounteroverflow,acomparematchfromComparatorAandacomparematch

fromComparatorP.WhentheTnCCLRbitislow,therearetwowaysinwhichthecountercanbe

cleared.OneiswhenacomparematchoccursfromComparatorP,theotheriswhentheCCRPbits

areallzerowhichallowsthecountertooverflow.HereboththeTnAFandTnPFinterruptrequest

flagsforComparatorAandComparatorPrespectively,willbothbegenerated.

IftheTnCCLRbitinthePTMnC1registerishighthenthecounterwillbeclearedwhenacompare

matchoccursfromComparatorA.However,hereonlytheTnAFinterruptrequestflagwillbe

generatedevenifthevalueoftheCCRPbitsislessthanthatoftheCCRAregisters.Thereforewhen

TnCCLRishighnoTnPFinterruptrequestflagwillbegenerated.IntheCompareMatchOutput

Mode,theCCRAcannotbeclearedtozero.

Asthenameofthemodesuggests,afteracomparisonismade,theTMoutputpin,willchange

state.TheTMoutputpinconditionhoweveronlychangesstatewhenaTnAFinterruptrequestflag

isgeneratedafteracomparematchoccursfromComparatorA.TheTnPFinterruptrequestflag,

generatedfromacomparematchfromComparatorP,willhavenoeffectontheTMoutputpin.The

wayinwhichtheTMoutputpinchangesstatearedeterminedbytheconditionoftheTnIO1and

TnIO0bitsinthePTMnC1register.TheTMoutputpincanbeselectedusingtheTnIO1andTnIO0

bitstogohigh,togolowortotogglefromitspresentconditionwhenacomparematchoccursfrom

ComparatorA.TheinitialconditionoftheTMoutputpin,whichissetupaftertheTnONbitchanges

fromlowtohigh,issetupusingtheTnOCbit.NotethatiftheTnIO1,TnIO0bitsarezerothenno

pinchangewilltakeplace.
