NORMAL Mode

Asthenamesuggeststhisisoneofthemainoperatingmodeswherethemicrocontrollerhasallof

itsfunctionsoperationalandwherethesystemclockisprovidedbythehighspeedoscillator.This

modeoperatesallowingthemicrocontrollertooperatenormallywithaclocksourcewillcomefrom

thehighspeedoscillator,HIRC.Thehighspeedoscillatorwillhoweverfirstbedividedbyaratio

rangingfrom1to64,theactualratiobeingselectedbytheCKS2~CKS0andHLCLKbitsinthe

SMODregister.Althoughahighspeedoscillatorisused,runningthemicrocontrolleratadivided

clockratioreducestheoperatingcurrent.

SLOW Mode

Thisisalsoamodewherethemicrocontrolleroperatesnormallyalthoughnowwithaslowerspeed

clocksource.TheclocksourceusedwillbefromfSUB.Runningthemicrocontrollerinthismode

allowsittorunwithmuchloweroperatingcurrents.IntheSLOWMode,thefHisoff.

SLEEP Mode

TheSLEEPModeisenteredwhenanHALTinstructionisexecutedandwhentheIDLENbitinthe

SMODregisterislow.IntheSLEEPmodetheCPUwillbestopped.HoweverthefSUBclockwill

continuetooperate.

IDLE0 Mode

TheIDLE0ModeisenteredwhenaHALTinstructionisexecutedandwhentheIDLENbitinthe

SMODregisterishighandtheFSYSONbitintheCTRLregisterislow.IntheIDLE0Modethe

systemoscillatorwillbeinhibitedfromdrivingtheCPU,thesystemoscillatorwillbestopped,the

lowfrequencyfSUBwillbeon.

IDLE1 Mode

TheIDLE1ModeisenteredwhenaHALTinstructionisexecutedandwhentheIDLENbitinthe

SMODregisterishighandtheFSYSONbitintheCTRLregisterishigh.IntheIDLE1Modethe

systemoscillatorwillbeinhibitedfromdrivingtheCPU,thesystemoscillatorwillcontinuetorun,

andthissystemoscillatormaybehighspeedorlowspeedsystemoscillator.IntheIDLE1Modethe

lowfrequencyfSUBwillbeon.

Note:IfLVDEN=1andtheSLEEPorIDLEmodeisentered,theLVDandbandgapfunctionswill

notbedisabled,andthefSUBclockwillbeforcedtobeenabled.
