TM Interrupts

TheCompact,StandardandPeriodicTypeTMseachhastwointerrupts.AlloftheTMinterrupts

arecontainedwithintheMulti-functionInterrupts.ForeachoftheCompact,StandardandPeriodic

TypeTMstherearetwointerruptrequestflagsxTMnPFandxTMnAFandtwoenablebitsxTMnPE

andxTMnAE.ATMinterruptrequestwilltakeplacewhenanyoftheTMrequestflagsareset,a

situationwhichoccurswhenaTMcomparatorPorcomparatorAmatchsituationhappens.

Toallowtheprogramtobranchtoitsrespectiveinterruptvectoraddress,theglobalinterruptenable

bit,EMI,andtherespectiveTMInterruptenablebit,andassociatedMulti-functioninterruptenable

bit,MFnF,mustfirstbeset.Whentheinterruptisenabled,thestackisnotfullandaTMcomparator

matchsituationoccurs,asubroutinecalltotherelevantTMInterruptvectorlocations,willtake

place.WhentheTMinterruptisserviced,theEMIbitwillbeautomaticallyclearedtodisableother

interrupts,howeveronlytherelatedMFnFflagwillbeautomaticallycleared.AstheTMinterrupt

requestflagswillnotbeautomaticallycleared,theyhavetobeclearedbytheapplicationprogram.

Serial Interface Module Interrupt

TheSerialInterfaceModuleInterruptisalsoknownastheSIMinterrupt.ASIMInterruptrequest

willtakeplacewhentheSIMInterruptrequestflag,SIMF,isset,whichoccurswhenabyteof

datahasbeenreceivedortransmittedbytheSIMinterface.Toallowtheprogramtobranchtoits

respectiveinterruptvectoraddress,theglobalinterruptenablebit,EMI,andtheSerialInterface

Interruptenablebit,SIME,mustfirstbeset.Whentheinterruptisenabled,thestackisnotfullanda

byteofdatahasbeentransmittedorreceivedbytheSIMinterface,asubroutinecalltotherespective

SIMInterruptvector,willtakeplace.Whentheinterruptisserviced,theinterruptrequestflag,SIMF,

willbeautomaticallyresetandtheEMIbitwillbeclearedtodisableotherinterrupts.

UART Interrupt

SeveralindividualUARTconditionscangenerateaUARTinterrupt.Whentheseconditionsexist,

alowpulsewillbegeneratedtogettheattentionofthemicrocontroller.Theseconditionsarea

transmitterdataregisterempty,transmitteridle,receiverdataavailable,receiveroverrun,address

detectandanRXpinwake-up.Toallowtheprogramtobranchtotherespectiveinterruptvector

addresses,theglobalinterruptenablebit,EMI,andUARTinterruptenablebit,UARTE,mustfirst

beset.Whentheinterruptisenabled,thestackisnotfullandanyoftheseconditionsarecreated,

asubroutinecalltotheUARTInterruptvectorwilltakeplace.Whentheinterruptisserviced,the

UARTInterruptflag,UARTF,willbeautomaticallycleared.TheEMIbitwillalsobeautomatically

clearedtodisableotherinterrupts.However,theUSRregisterflagswillbeclearedautomatically

whencertainactionsaretakenbytheUART,thedetailsofwhicharegivenintheUARTsection.

Interrupt Wake-up Function

Eachoftheinterruptfunctionshasthecapabilityofwakingupthemicrocontrollerwheninthe

SLEEPorIDLEMode.Awake-upisgeneratedwhenaninterruptrequestflagchangesfromlow

tohighandisindependentofwhethertheinterruptisenabledornot.Therefore,eventhoughthese

devicesareintheSLEEPorIDLEModeanditssystemoscillatorstopped,situationssuchas

externaledgetransitionsontheexternalinterruptpins,alowpowersupplyvoltageorcomparator

inputchangemaycausetheirrespectiveinterruptflagtobesethighandconsequentlygenerate

aninterrupt.Caremustthereforebetakenifspuriouswake-upsituationsaretobeavoided.Ifan

interruptwake-upfunctionistobedisabledthenthecorrespondinginterruptrequestflagshouldbe

sethighbeforethedeviceenterstheSLEEPorIDLEMode.Theinterruptenablebitshavenoeffect

ontheinterruptwake-upfunction.
