General Purpose Data Memory

Allmicrocontrollerprogramsrequireanareaofread/writememorywheretemporarydatacanbe

storedandretrievedforuselater.ItisthisareaofRAMmemorythatisknownasGeneralPurpose

DataMemory.ThisareaofDataMemoryisfullyaccessiblebytheuserprogrammingforboth

readingandwritingoperations.Byusingthebitoperationinstructionsindividualbitscanbesetor

resetunderprogramcontrolgivingtheuseralargerangeofflexibilityforbitmanipulationinthe

DataMemory.

Special Purpose Data Memory

This area of Data Memory is where registers, necessary for the correct operation of the

microcontroller,arestored.Mostoftheregistersarebothreadableandwriteablebutsomeare

protectedandarereadableonly,thedetailsofwhicharelocatedundertherelevantSpecialFunction

Registersection.Notethatforlocationsthatareunused,anyreadinstructiontotheseaddresseswill

returnthevalue“00H”.

LCD Display Data Memory

ThedatatobedisplayedontheLCDdisplayisstoredinanareaoffullyaccessibleDataMemory.

BywritingtothisareaofRAM,thedisplayoutputcanbedirectlycontrolledbytheapplication

program.AstheLCDMemoryaddressesoverlapthoseoftheGeneralPurposeDataMemory,itis

storedinitsownindependentSector1areaforLCDdisplay.Thisareaislocatedinthe80H~B0H

atSector1forHT69F360.ToaccesstheDisplayMemorythereforerequiresfirstthatSector1is

selectedbywritingavalueof01HtoMP1HorMP2H.Afterthis,thememorycanthenbeaccessed

byusingindirectaddressingthroughtheuseofMP1LorMP2L.WithSector1selected,thenusing

MP1LorMP2Ltoreadorwritetothememoryarea,from80HtoB0H,willresultinoperationsto

theLCDmemory.DirectlyaddressingtheDisplayMemoryisnotapplicableandwillresultinadata

accesstotheSector0GeneralPurposeDataMemory.
