RAM Data Memory

TheDataMemoryisan8-bitwideRAMinternalmemoryandisthelocationwheretemporary

informationisstored.

Dividedintotwotypes,thefirstofDataMemoryisanareaofRAMwherespecialfunctionregisters

arelocated.Theseregistershavefixedlocationsandarenecessaryforcorrectoperationofthe

device.Manyoftheseregisterscanbereadfromandwrittentodirectlyunderprogramcontrol,

however,someremainprotectedfromusermanipulation.ThesecondareaofDataMemoryis

reservedforgeneralpurposeuse.Alllocationswithinthisareaarereadandwriteaccessibleunder

programcontrol.

Structure

TheDataMemoryisdividedintoseveralsectors,allofwhichareimplementedin8-bitwide

Memory.EachoftheDataMemorysectorsiscategorizedintotwotypes,theSpecialPurposeData

MemoryandtheGeneralPurposeDataMemory.

ThestartaddressoftheSpecialPurposeDataMemoryforalldevicesistheaddress00Hwhilethe

startaddressoftheGeneralPurposeDataMemoryistheaddress80H.TheSpecialPurposeData

Memoryregistersareaccessibleinallsectors,withtheexceptionoftheEECregisterataddress

40H,whichisonlyaccessibleinSector1.
