TM Clock Source

TheclocksourcewhichdrivesthemaincounterineachTMcanoriginatefromvarioussources.

TheselectionoftherequiredclocksourceisimplementedusingtheTnCK2~TnCK0bitsintheTM

controlregisters.TheclocksourcecanbearatioofeitherthesystemclockfSYSortheinternalhigh

clockfH,thefTBCclocksourceortheexternalTCKnpin.TheTCKnpinclocksourceisusedtoallow

anexternalsignaltodrivetheTMasanexternalclocksourceorforeventcounting.

TM Interrupts

TheCompactTypeandPeriodicTypeTMseachhavetwointernalinterrupts,oneforeachofthe

internalcomparatorAorcomparatorP,whichgenerateaTMinterruptwhenacomparematch

conditionoccurs.WhenaTMinterruptisgenerateditcanbeusedtoclearthecounterandalsoto

changethestateoftheTMoutputpin.

TM External Pins

EachoftheTMs,irrespectiveofwhattype,hasoneTMinputpin,withthelabelTCKn.TheTM

inputpinisessentiallyaclocksourcefortheTMandisselectedusingtheTnCK2~TnCK0bitsin

theTMnC0register.ThisexternalTMinputpinallowsanexternalclocksourcetodrivetheinternal

TM.ThisexternalTMinputpinissharedwithotherfunctionsbutwillbeconnectedtotheinternal

TMifselectedusingtheTnCK2~TnCK0bits.TheTMinputpincanbechosentohaveeithera

risingorfallingactiveedge.

TheTMseachhaveoneortwooutputpinswiththelabelTPn.WhentheTMisintheCompare

MatchOutputMode,thesepinscanbecontrolledbytheTMtoswitchtoahighorlowlevelorto

togglewhenacomparematchsituationoccurs.TheexternalTPnoutputpinisalsothepinwherethe

TMgeneratesthePWMoutputwaveform.AstheTMoutputpinsarepin-sharedwithotherfunction,

theTMoutputfunctionmustfirstbesetupusingregisters.Asinglebitinoneoftheregisters

determinesifitsassociatedpinistobeusedasanexternalTMoutputpinorifitistohaveanother

function.ThenumberofoutputpinsforeachTMtypeisdifferent,thedetailsareprovidedinthe

accompanyingtable.

PeriodicTypeTMoutputpinnameshavea“_n”suffix.Pinnamesthatincludea“_0”or“_1”

suffixindicatethattheyarefromaTMwithmultipleoutputpins.ThisallowstheTMtogeneratea

complimentaryoutputpair,selectedusingtheI/Oregisterdatabits.
