TheprovisionofFlashtypeProgramMemoryprovidestheuserwithameansofconvenientand

easyupgradesandmodificationstotheirprogramsonthesamedevice.

Asanadditionalconvenience,Holtekhasprovidedameansofprogrammingthemicrocontroller

in-circuitusinga4-pininterface.Thisprovidesmanufacturerswiththepossibilityofmanufacturing

theircircuitboardscompletewithaprogrammedorun-programmedmicrocontroller,andthen

programmingorupgradingtheprogramatalaterstage.Thisenablesproductmanufacturerstoeasily

keeptheirmanufacturedproductssuppliedwiththelatestprogramreleaseswithoutremovaland

re-insertionofthedevices.

TheProgramMemorycanbeprogrammedseriallyin-circuitusingthis4-wireinterface.Data

isdownloadedanduploadedseriallyonasinglepinwithanadditionallinefortheclock.Two

additionallinesarerequiredforthepowersupplyandonelineforthereset.Thetechnicaldetails

regardingthein-circuitprogrammingofthedevicesarebeyondthescopeofthisdocumentandwill

besuppliedinsupplementaryliterature.

Duringtheprogrammingprocess,takingcontrolofthePA0andPA7pinsfordataandclock

programmingpurposes.Theusermusttheretakecaretoensurethatnootheroutputsareconnected

tothesetwopins.
