ThePWMfunctionwithintheTMisusefulforapplicationswhichrequirefunctionssuchasmotor control,heatingcontrol,illuminationcontroletc.Byprovidingasignaloffixedfrequencybut ofvaryingdutycycleontheTMoutputpin,asquarewaveACwaveformcanbegeneratedwith varyingequivalentDCRMSvalues. AsboththeperiodanddutycycleofthePWMwaveformcanbecontrolled,thechoiceofgenerated waveformisextremelyflexible.InthePWMmode,theTnCCLRbithasnoeffectonthePWM operation.BothoftheCCRAandCCRPregistersareusedtogeneratethePWMwaveform,one registerisusedtocleartheinternalcounterandthuscontrolthePWMwaveformfrequency,while theotheroneisusedtocontrolthedutycycle.Whichregisterisusedtocontroleitherfrequency ordutycycleisdeterminedusingtheTnDPXbitintheTMnC1register.ThePWMwaveform frequencyanddutycyclecanthereforebecontrolledbythevaluesintheCCRAandCCRPregisters.
