The Programmable Output Characteristic The output characteristic defines the shape of the sensor output signal. It consists of 32 setpoints. Each setpoint can be set to values between 0 and 511 LSB. The output char- acteristic has to be monotonic increasing (Setpoint0 < Setpoint1 < ... < Setpoint31) An example of how the setpoints are programmed is given in Fig. 6–7. Note: In case of a non-linear output characteristic, the parameters SHIFT and SLOPE are related to the (virtual) straight line connecting the first and the last setpoints (setpoint 0 and setpoint 31, respectively).
