Thecommunicationisfullduplexandoperatesasaslave/mastertype,wherethedevicecanbeeither masterorslave.AlthoughtheSPIinterfacespecificationcancontrolmultipleslavedevicesfroma singlemaster,butthedeviceprovidesonlyoneSCSpin.Ifthemasterneedstocontrolmultipleslave devicesfromasinglemaster,themastercanuseI/Opintoselecttheslavedevices. SPI Interface Operation TheSPIinterfaceisafullduplexsynchronousserialdatalink.Itisafourlineinterfacewithpin namesSDI,SDO,SCKandSCS.PinsSDIandSDOaretheSerialDataInputandSerialData Outputlines,SCKistheSerialClocklineandSCSistheSlaveSelectline.AstheSPIinterfacepins arepin-sharedwithnormalI/OpinsandwiththeI2Cfunctionpins,theSPIinterfacepinsmustfirst beselectedbyconfiguringthepin-sharedfunctionselectionbitsandsettingthecorrectbitsinthe SIMC0andSIMC2registers.AfterthedesiredSPIconfigurationhasbeensetitcanalsobedisabled orenabledusingtheSIMENbitintheSIMC0register.Communicationbetweendevicesconnected totheSPIinterfaceiscarriedoutinaslave/mastermodewithalldatatransferinitiationsbeing implementedbythemaster.TheMasteralsocontrolstheclocksignal.Asthedeviceonlycontains asingleSCSpinonlyoneslavedevicecanbeutilized.TheSCSpiniscontrolledbysoftware,set CSENbitto“1”toenableSCSpinfunction,setCSENbitto“0”theSCSpinwillbefloatingstate. TheSPIfunctioninthisdeviceoffersthefollowingfeatures: • Fullduplexsynchronousdatatransfer • BothMasterandSlavemodes • LSBfirstorMSBfirstdatatransmissionmodes • Transmissioncompleteflag • Risingorfallingactiveclockedge ThestatusoftheSPIinterfacepinsisdeterminedbyanumberoffactorssuchaswhetherthedevice isinthemasterorslavemodeandupontheconditionofcertaincontrolbitssuchasCSENand SIMEN. |
