PC 0/ OS C1 20pF V DD R OS C PC 1/ OS C2 External RC Oscillator – ERC External Oscillator – EC Thesystemclockcanalsobesuppliedbyanexternallysuppliedclockgivingusersamethodof synchronisingtheirexternalhardwaretothemicrocontrolleroperation.Thisisselectedusing aconfigurationoptionandsupplyingtheclockonpinOSC1.PinOSC2shouldbeleftfloating iftheexternaloscillatorisused.Theinternaloscillatorcircuitcontainsafiltercircuittoreduce thepossibilityoferraticoperationduetonoiseontheoscillatorpin,howeverasthefiltercircuit consumesacertainamountofpower,aconfigurationoptionexiststoturnthisfilteroff.Notusing theinternalfiltershouldbeconsideredinpowersensitiveapplicationsandwheretheexternally suppliedclockisofahighintegrityandsuppliedbyalowimpedancesource. Internal RC Oscillator – HIRC TheinternalRCoscillatorisafullyintegratedsystemoscillatorrequiringnoexternalcomponents. TheinternalRCoscillatorhasfourfixedfrequenciesofeither910kHz,2MHz,4MHzor8MHz. Devicetrimmingduringthemanufacturingprocessandtheinclusionofinternalfrequency compensationcircuitsareusedtoensurethattheinfluenceofthepowersupplyvoltage,temperature andprocessvariationsontheoscillationfrequencyareminimised.Notethatifthisinternalsystem clockoptionisselected,asitrequiresnoexternalpinsforitsoperation,I/OpinsPC0andPC1are freeforuseasnormalI/Opins. Internal 32kHz Oscillator – LIRC TheInternal32kHzSystemOscillatorisalowfrequencyoscillator.ItisafullyintegratedRC oscillatorwithatypicalfrequencyof32kHzat5V,requiringnoexternalcomponentsforits implementation.Devicetrimmingduringthemanufacturingprocessandtheinclusionofinternal frequencycompensationcircuitsareusedtoensurethattheinfluenceofthepowersupplyvoltage, temperatureandprocessvariationsontheoscillationfrequencyareminimised. |
