The normal operating temperature range for the internal temperature sensor is limited by the operating temperature range of the device (–40°C to 125°C). The temperature sensor results are converted by the device ADC at a lower speed than the analog input channels. The temperature can be monitored either continuously or as a single-time conversion depending on whether the ADC is configured in auto mode or direct mode (see the Analog-to-Digital Converter (ADC) section for more details). If the temperature sensor is not needed, it can be disabled in the ADC MUX configuration 2 register (address 0x15). When disabled, the temperature sensor output is not converted by the ADC. The temperature sensor provides 0.25°C resolution over the operating temperature range. The temperature value is stored in 12-bit two’s complement format in the temperature data registers (address 0x78 through 0x79). Table 3.
