Operation Mode Description CPU fSYS fLIRC/fSUB NORM�L Mode On fH~fH/64 On SLOW Mode On fL On IDLE0 Mode Off Off On IDLE1 Mode Off On On SLEEP0 Mode Off Off Off SLEEP1 Mode Off Off On • NORMALMode Asthenamesuggeststhisisoneofthemainoperatingmodeswherethemicrocontrollerhas allofitsfunctionsoperationalandwherethesystemclockisprovidedbyoneofthehighspeed oscillators.Thismodeoperatesallowingthemicrocontrollertooperatenormallywithaclock sourcewillcomefromoneofthehighspeedoscillators,eithertheHXTorHIRCoscillators. Thehighspeedoscillatorwillhoweverfirstbedividedbyaratiorangingfrom1to64,theactual ratiobeingselectedbytheCKS2~CKS0andHLCLKbitsintheSMODregister.Althoughahigh speedoscillatorisused,runningthemicrocontrolleratadividedclockratioreducestheoperating current. • SLOWMode Thisisalsoamodewherethemicrocontrolleroperatesnormallyalthoughnowwithaslower speedclocksource.Theclocksourceusedwillbefromthelowspeedoscillator,namelyLIRC. Runningthemicrocontrollerinthismodeallowsittorunwithmuchloweroperatingcurrents.In theSLOWMode,fHisoff. • SLEEP0Mode TheSLEEPModeisenteredwhenaHALTinstructionisexecutedandwhentheIDLENbitin theSMODregisterislow.IntheSLEEP0modetheCPUwillbestopped,andthefLIRCclockwill bestoppedtoo,andtheWatchdogTimerfunctionisdisabled. • SLEEP1Mode TheSLEEPModeisenteredwhenanHALTinstructionisexecutedandwhenthebit,IDLEN, intheSMODregisterislow.IntheSLEEP1modetheCPUwillbestopped.HoweverthefLIRC clockwillcontinuetooperateiftheWatchdogTimerisenabled. • IDLE0Mode TheIDLE0ModeisenteredwhenaHALTinstructionisexecutedandwhentheIDLENbitin theSMODregisterishighandtheFSYSONbitintheCTRLregisterislow.IntheIDLE0Mode thesystemoscillatorwillbeinhibitedfromdrivingtheCPUbutsomeperipheralfunctionswill remainoperationalsuchastheTimeBaseandTMs.IntheIDLE0Mode,thesystemoscillator willbestopped. |
