Capture Input Mode

ToselectthismodebitsSTM1andSTM0intheSTMC1registershouldbesetto01respectively.

Thismodeenablesexternalsignalstocaptureandstorethepresentvalueoftheinternalcounter

andcanthereforebeusedforapplicationssuchaspulsewidthmeasurements.Theexternalsignalis

suppliedontheSTPpin,whoseactiveedgecanbeeitherarisingedge,afallingedgeorbothrising

andfallingedges;theactiveedgetransitiontypeisselectedusingtheSTIO1andSTIO0bitsin

theSTMC1register.ThecounterisstartedwhentheSTONbitchangesfromlowtohighwhichis

initiatedusingtheapplicationprogram.

WhentherequirededgetransitionappearsontheSTPpinthepresentvalueinthecounterwillbe

latchedintotheCCRAregistersandaTMinterruptgenerated.Irrespectiveofwhateventsoccuron

theSTPpinthecounterwillcontinuetofreerununtiltheSTONbitchangesfromhightolow.When

aCCRPcomparematchoccursthecounterwillresetbacktozero;inthiswaytheCCRPvalue

canbeusedtocontrolthemaximumcountervalue.WhenaCCRPcomparematchoccursfrom

ComparatorP,aTMinterruptwillalsobegenerated.Countingthenumberofoverflowinterrupt

signalsfromtheCCRPcanbeausefulmethodinmeasuringlongpulsewidths.TheSTIO1and

STIO0bitscanselecttheactivetriggeredgeontheSTPpintobearisingedge,fallingedgeorboth

edgetypes.IftheSTIO1andSTIO0bitsarebothsethigh,thennocaptureoperationwilltakeplace

irrespectiveofwhathappensontheSTPpin,howeveritmustbenotedthatthecounterwillcontinue

torun.

AstheSTPpinispinsharedwithotherfunctions,caremustbetakeniftheTMisintheInput

CaptureMode.Thisisbecauseifthepinissetupasanoutput,thenanytransitionsonthispinmay

causeaninputcaptureoperationtobeexecuted.TheSTCCLRandSTDPXbitsarenotusedinthis

Mode.
