30 / 35 page  Datasheet explanation AN4544 30/35 DocID026535 Rev 1 2.7.7 Short-circuit withstand time - tsc In motor control applications, the ability to turn off safely due to a load or equipment short- circuit is a very important requirement on the power switching device. When a current overload occurs, collector current rises rapidly so the power device limits the current amplitude to a safe level for a period of time that allows the control circuit to detect the fault and turn the device off. Specific IGBT technology and series are produced to show such features. Figure 29. Short-circuit performance example Table 11.
