Address detect mode

SettingtheAddressDetectModebit,ADDEN,intheUCR2register,enablesthisspecialmode.If

thisbitisenabledthenanadditionalqualifierwillbeplacedonthegenerationofaReceiverData

Availableinterrupt,whichisrequestedbytheRXIFflag.IftheADDENbitisenabled,thenwhen

dataisavailable,aninterruptwillonlybegenerated,ifthehighestreceivedbithasahighvalue.

NotethattheMFE,UREandEMIinterruptenablebitsmustalsobeenabledforcorrectinterrupt

generation.Thishighestaddressbitisthe9thbitifBNO=1orthe8thbitifBNO=0.Ifthisbit

ishigh,thenthereceivedwordwillbedefinedasanaddressratherthandata.ADataAvailable

interruptwillbegeneratedeverytimethelastbitofthereceivedwordisset.IftheADDENbit

isnotenabled,thenaReceiverDataAvailableinterruptwillbegeneratedeachtimetheRXIF

flagisset,irrespectiveofthedatalastbitstatus.Theaddressdetectmodeandparityenableare

mutuallyexclusivefunctions.Thereforeiftheaddressdetectmodeisenabled,thentoensurecorrect

operation,theparityfunctionshouldbedisabledbyresettingtheparityenablebittozero.

UART Module Power Down and Wake-up

WhenthefSYSisoff,theUARTwillceasetofunction.Allclocksourcestothemoduleareshutdown.

IfthefSYSisoffwhileatransmissionisstillinprogress,thenthetransmissionwillbepauseduntil

theUARTclocksourcederivedfromthemicrocontrollerisactivated.Inasimilarway,iftheMCU

entersthePowerDownModewhilereceivingdata,thenthereceptionofdatawilllikewisebe

paused.WhentheMCUentersthePowerDownMode,notethattheUSR,UCR1,UCR2,transmit

andreceiveregisters,aswellastheBRGregisterwillnotbeaffected.Itisrecommendedtomake

surefirstthattheUARTdatatransmissionorreceptionhasbeenfinishedbeforethemicrocontroller

entersthePowerDownmode.

TheUARTfunctioncontainsareceiverRXpinwake-upfunction,whichisenabledordisabled

bytheWAKEbitintheUCR2register.Ifthisbit,alongwiththeUARTenablebit,UARTEN,the

receiverenablebit,RXENandthereceiverinterruptbit,RIE,areallsetbeforetheMCUenters

thePowerDownMode,thenafallingedgeontheRXpinwillwakeuptheMCUfromthePower

DownMode.Notethatasittakescertainsystemclockcyclesafterawake-up,beforenormal

microcontrolleroperationresumes,anydatareceivedduringthistimeontheRXpinwillbeignored.

ForaUARTwake-upinterrupttooccur,inadditiontothebitsforthewake-upbeingset,theglobal

interruptenablebit,EMI,andtheUARTinterruptenablebit,UARE,mustalsobeset.Ifthesetwo

bitsarenotsetthenonlyawakeupeventwilloccurandnointerruptwillbegenerated.Notealso

thatasittakescertainsystemclockcyclesafterawake-upbeforenormalmicrocontrollerresumes,

theUARTinterruptwillnotbegenerateduntilafterthistimehaselapsed.
