RAM Data Memory

TheDataMemoryisavolatileareaof8-bitwideRAMinternalmemoryandisthelocationwhere

temporaryinformationisstored.Dividedintothreesections,thefirstoftheseisanareaofRAM

wherespecialfunctionregistersarelocated.Theseregistershavefixedlocationsandarenecessary

forcorrectoperationofthedevices.

Manyoftheseregisterscanbereadfromandwrittentodirectlyunderprogramcontrol,however,some

remainprotectedfromusermanipulation.ThesecondareaofDataMemoryisreservedforgeneral

purposeuse.Alllocationswithinthisareaarereadandwriteaccessibleunderprogramcontrol.The

thirdareaisreservedfortheLCDMemory.ThisspecialareaofDataMemoryismappeddirectlyto

theLCDdisplaysodatawrittenintothismemoryareawilldirectlyaffectthedisplayeddata.

TheaddressesoftheLCDMemoryareaoverlapthoseintheGeneralPurposeDataMemoryarea.

SwitchingbetweenthedifferentDataMemorybanksisachievedbysettingtheBankPointertothe

correctvalue.

RAM.TheDataMemorylocatedinBank0issubdividedintotwosections,theSpecialPurpose

DataMemoryandtheGeneralPurposeDataMemory.

ThestartaddressoftheDataMemoryforthedeviceistheaddress00H.Registerswhichare

commontoallmicrocontrollers,suchasACC,PCL,etc.,havethesameDataMemoryaddress.The

LCDMemoryismappedintoBank1.TheotherbankscontainonlyGeneralPurposeDataMemory

forthedevice.AstheSpecialPurposeDataMemoryregistersaremappedintoallbankareas,they

cansubsequentlybeaccessedfromanybanklocation.
