The voltage used in the drive system presents a shock hazard. The kit is not electrically isolated from the DC input. This topology is very common in motor drives. The microprocessor is grounded by the integrated ground of the DC bus. The microprocessor and associated circuitry are hot and MUST be isolated from user controls and communication interfaces. Warning: All measuring equipment must be isolated from the main power supply before powering up the motor drive. To use an oscilloscope with the kit, it is safer to isolate the DC supply AND the oscilloscope. This prevents shock occurring as a result of touching any SINGLE point in the circuit, but does NOT prevent shock when touching two or more points in the circuit. |
