Inadditiontothepower-onreset,situationsmayarisewhereitisnecessarytoforcefullyapply aresetconditionwhenthemicrocontrollerisrunning.Oneexampleofthisiswhereafterpower hasbeenappliedandthemicrocontrollerisalreadyrunning,theRESlineisforcefullypulledlow. Insuchacase,knownasanormaloperationreset,someofthemicrocontrollerregistersremain unchangedallowingthemicrocontrollertoproceedwithnormaloperationaftertheresetlineis allowedtoreturnhigh. AnothertypeofresetiswhentheWatchdogTimeroverflowsandresetsthemicrocontroller.All typesofresetoperationsresultindifferentregisterconditionsbeingsetup.Anotherresetexistsinthe formofaLowVoltageReset,LVR,whereafullresetisimplementedinsituationswherethepower supplyvoltagefallsbelowacertainthreshold. Reset Functions Therearefivewaysinwhichamicrocontrollerresetcanoccur,througheventsoccurringboth internallyandexternally. |
