Figure 2. Bluetooth low energy stack architecture 1.2 Physical layer The physical layer is a 1 Mbps adaptive frequency-hopping Gaussian Frequency Shift Keying (GFSK) radio. It operates in the license free 2.4 GHz ISM band at 2400-2483.5 MHz. Many other standards use this band: IEEE 802.11, IEEE 802.15. The BLE system uses 40 RF channels (0-39), with 2 MHz spacing.
