Switching between active and stand-by mode can be done by software and by hardware. Software controlled switching can be done on the line side in transmit direction by using the register bit XPM2.XLT. Combined hardware and software controlled switching can be done on the line side in transmit direction by a hardware signal if a Multi Function Port is configured as tristate input XLT. It is proposed that the Multi Function Port XPA be used for XLT or XLT input respectively, if this is the case then the PC1.XPC1(3:0) register bits must be programed, see Table 34.
