The objective of TIM17 is to generate the carrier signal.
TIM17_Period = (SystemCoreClock / FrequencyCarrier) - 1
TIM16 is used to generate the envelop signal.
TIM16_Period = (SystemCoreClock / FrequencyEnvelop) - 1
Once the modules are initialized (IRTIM, frame fields), the application waits for the SEL
button to be pressed to send the IR data. Figure 10 shows the send frame flowchart.
Enable and configure TIM17 to generate the
carrier signal with frequency around 36Khz and
duty cycle 25%(*)
Enable and configure TIM16 to generate the
envelop signal with periodic interrupt (**)
Choose the command and the address to be sent
to the IR receiver (using LEFT, RIGHT and
DOWN buttons)
Send the corresponding IR data frame
If SEL button
pressed
(*) The carrier frequency is
specific for each IR
protocol (RC5: 36 KHz;
SIRC: 40 kHz)
(**) The envelop signal is
also specific to each IR
protocol (RC5: 889 μs;
SIRC: 600 μs)
Enable and configure IR GPIO pin (Alternate
function IRTIM) to generate the IR signal
