• Grounding of control cable is possible on

an appropriate location of the workplace.

counting, control and communication cir-

cuits.

ESI 12-4 1973

The Electricity Supply Industry Standard

ESI 12-4 1973 defines a detailed specifica-

tion of control and protection equipment.

The main functions of thiese installations

are as follows:

• Insulation of the control cables located in

front of ground or installation lines with

increased potential, which is required to

prevent unintentional contact of service

staff with live parts.

• Separation of control cables from local

control circuits.

• Application also includes test connec-

tions for auxiliary control circuits and / or

local control circuits.

• Grounding of control cables and / or

auxiliary control circuits.

• Bundled disconnection of all auxiliary

control circuits from potential earth.

• A test voltage can be applied using the

screening connection of the control

cable, which is normally routed on the

enclosure, with the help of an appropria-

te separation. This permits to check

whether the screening line is correctly

functioning. For this test, an insulated

feed-through plate is required.
