50 / 52 page  Application family identifier (AFI) coding LRI64 50/52 Appendix C Application family identifier (AFI) coding AFI (application family identifier) represents the type of application targeted by the VCD and is used to extract from all the LRI64 present only the LRI64 meeting the required application criteria. It is programmed by the LRI64 issuer (the purchaser of the LRI64). Once locked, it can not be modified. The most significant nibble of AFI is used to code one specific or all application families, as defined in Table 21. The least significant nibble of AFI is used to code one specific or all application subfamilies. Subfamily codes different from 0 are proprietary. Table 21.
