Hello, Please ask a question about 1N5646 Datasheet
# Example questions:
➢ What is the primary factor used when selecting a tvs diode?
➢ What is the maximum standby current (id) for the 1n5665a at its rated standoff voltage (vwm)?
➢ What package type is described in the 'package dimensions' section and what is the maximum dimension 'b' for this package in inches?
1. General Information (Applicable to all Datasheets)
️· Product Type: Unidirectional Transient Voltage Suppressors. These protect circuits from voltage spikes and surges.
️· Suffixes:
- No suffix (e.g., 1N5661): 10% tolerance.
- Suffix "A" (e.g., 1N5661A): 5% tolerance. Military versions are also available with JAN, JANTX, or JANTXV prefixes.
️· Key Parameters & Definitions:
- VWM (Standoff Voltage): The maximum reverse voltage allowed without triggering conduction.
- V(BR) (Breakdown Voltage): The voltage at which the device starts to conduct heavily.
- VC (Maximum Clamping Voltage): The peak voltage across the device under specified surge conditions.
- IPP (Peak Pulse Current): The maximum current the device can handle during a surge.
- ID (Standby Current): The current flowing at the standoff voltage.
- I(BR) (Breakdown Current): The current used to measure the breakdown voltage.
️· Important Note: TVS diodes are typically selected based on their standoff voltage (VWM) which must be equal to or greater than the applied voltage.
️· Temperature Derating: There are derating curves to show how the device’s power handling capability decreases with increasing ambient temperature.
️· Datasheet Revision: Rev A, dated November 6, 2003
